Reblogged this on Safkhet Publishing and commented:
Carol describes what you can do as an author to sell your books and to build truly unique relationships with your readers! Social media maybe important these days and helpful to spread the word, but for those who can approach complete strangers like Carol, actually walking up to people and talking to them is not only a potential revenue stream, it is also fun and engaging for both the approacher and the approached!
I used to think that doing something like this is way leaving my comfort zone, but then I discovered (upon starting out as a local journalist) that it is actually fun to walk up to strangers, ask them questions and strike up a conversation. And so far, nothing but good stuff has come from it. I’ve found new Dungeons and Dragons players for a Sunday group, a wonderful artist who custom-made a beautiful table for us and several people I might otherwise never have met. Carol, you’re one of them although I don’t remember which one of us started the conversation…
I suspect we might be very like-minded Kim! Very interested in your involvement with Dungeons and Dragons. I have been tempted on several occasions to have a go at that but since I live in a fantasy world anyway in my head I might get very confused as to where reality begins.
Many thanks for reblogging this.
It may be hard to believe, having met me, that I used to be much shyer. I too, have only met very interesting and helpful people thanks to chatting…and we all know what happened when we met! No, I can’t remember who started it either. (What happens in Bedford, stays in Bedford!)
I keep meaning to mention that I love the way your blog looks.
Clean & crisp. Nicely done!
Thank you very much indeed. After leaving blogger I struggled with this platform for a while, so there aren’t as many photographs as I had on my last blog. I appreciate your comment because it struck me that it might be a little sparse here. x
